Tending to mental health through mind and body
Our team of empathic psychiatrists and psychotherapists offer psychiatric consultations, medication management, and psychotherapy both in-person and virtually.
We offer psychiatric services within the context of a mind-body approach. If you are looking to understand what your diagnosis is, need a second opinion, wish to engage in a healing journey with a prescriber, or want to discuss either starting, continuing or changing your psychiatric medications, Being Health can help.
Whether you’re coping with a stressful life event or feel you are at an impasse in your mental health journey, individual psychotherapy can be a valuable tool to help you work through things in an open, supportive and non-judgmental environment. Being Health offers a variety of psychotherapy modalities and therapists for you to work with.
Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to connect with others, gain support, and learn from shared experiences, creating a sense of community in a therapeutic environment that enriches the healing process.
We’ve got you covered
Being Health is in network with Aetna, Cigna, Northwell Direct, Oscar and UnitedHealthcare in New York and New Jersey. Certain services may be covered.

FAQs
What makes Being Health different?
At Being Health, your psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, or therapist isn't working alone. Our providers collaborate as a coordinated care team, meeting regularly to discuss complex cases and ensure your treatment plan is working. This team-based approach means you benefit from multiple perspectives and more comprehensive support.
Will my appointment be in-person or virtual?
We offer virtual visits and in-person appointments, based on your preferences and provider availability. All in-person appointments are scheduled at our warm and welcoming space in New York City. We’re here to support you on your mental health journey–wherever that unfolds.
What's the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist?
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can conduct a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, develop a care plan for you and prescribe medications according to your unique needs. Our psychiatrists at Being Health are also trained in psychotherapy so you can be assured that during your visit, you may discuss all of the factors that contribute to your mental health outside of only discussing symptom management.
Psychiatric nurse practitioners (NPs) are advanced practice nurses who can also diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medications, and provide therapy. They offer similar services to psychiatrists and work closely with our medical team.
Psychotherapists are licensed mental health providers who can provide psychotherapy but they are not medical doctors and cannot prescribe medications. Psychotherapy can be provided by a series of different licensed clinicians at Being Health including Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Mental Health Counselors.
