Parenting with Purpose

This 8-week virtual group is for parents with young children (0-6 years of age) and will focus on improving family cohesion, fostering parent-child relationships, and teaching concrete and practical strategies for mindful parenting. Each week will focus on specific aspects of parenting and parental stress and practice of key skills and techniques to foster compassionate and nurturing parent-child relationships, all in a supportive virtual group setting.

Meet the facilitator

This group will be led by Dr. Kavitha Kolappa, a Harvard-trained psychiatrist with expertise in the brain/body connection. Her approach to this group will draw from the fields of attachment theory and child development, positive parenting, intergenerational healing and resilience, and mindfulness strategies.

How it works

1. Fill out a registration form

2. Connect with facilitator

The Being Health group facilitator will screen potential participants for appropriateness of fit.

3. Enroll in group and begin

After enrolling in the group, participants attend their first session on the indicated start date and participate weekly until the end date.

The Parenting with Purpose group is open to parents of young children (0 - 6 years of age) who reside in New York, Massachusetts and Florida.

This group meets virtually via Zoom for Being Health, a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform designed for group and individual sessions.

Developed by Dr. Kavitha Kolappa, a Harvard-trained psychiatrist with expertise in the brain/body connection and drawing from the fields of evolutionary psychiatry, attachment theory and child development, positive parenting, intergenerational healing and resilience, and mindfulness strategies, this program is aimed for parents who want to optimize their relationships with their children.

By reflecting on your unique intergenerational mind/body inheritance, understand the impacts of stress on our brains, bodies, and behavior, leverage the critical importance of the first few years of your child's life and brain development, and learn concrete positive parenting strategies to connect with your own intuition and that of your child to build lifelong trusting and fulfilling relationships with your children and families.

Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to connect with others, gain support, and learn from shared experiences, creating a sense of community in a therapeutic environment that enriches the healing process.

At Being Health, we are committed to fair and transparent pricing. Our group therapy sessions are priced at $75 per /session and participation requires a commitment to the full duration of the program.

You will be charged for the initial group session at the time of your enrollment and auto-charged every week for the remaining 7 weeks. A financial commitment for this 8-week group psychotherapy program is required, regardless of group attendance.

We are not currently in network with any private insurance providers, Medicaid or Medicare, but we are currently working on it. We will share a superbill that you can use to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance provider.

We accept Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), as well as American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover. Additionally, we have partnered with Advance Care Card and CareCredit to offer financing for those who qualify.
